What began as an informal writing session, blossomed into an expansive musical partnership between U.K.-bred singer Carina Round, Juno nominated Canadian artist Justin Rutledge, L.A. producer/musician Dan Burns, and multi-instrumentalist Zac Rae. They released their self-titled debut album early this year along with a limited edition 7" Vinyl that came complete with different vintage postcards, personally handpicked by the band with some having messages over a hundred years old. It reminded them of their journey together creating their album from all over the world.
Since all four members were on the road and in the studio, in order to finish their debut album they had to get creative. Continuing to write songs via video chat, Skype, and email, they finished the album from various countries: Carina the UK and Los Angeles, Justin from Toronto, Dan from Tokyo where he was recording and performing with the legendary Japanese artist Utada, and Zac from New Zealand where he was recording with Tim Finn (Split Enz, Crowded House).
The formation of the quartet was instant and the musical chemistry was clearly evident. The final result has warmth that is unpretentious and is intimate despite their geographical separation. The album received instant placements on multiple TV shows including the Ghost Whisperer, Being Human, In Plain Sight, Teen Wolf, and in the Warner Brothers film ‘The Lucky One’. It wasn't too long before their songs were popping up in online features and added into heavy rotation on KCRW, CBC, East Village Radio, CJTR, and other radio stations.
While traveling around with various other projects, the band always seems to manage to write together on the road. Then they come back together to create and record a very well traveled package.
